An action group representing the concerns of local people about development between Berkeley and Sharpness has been formed. We are concerned about Stroud District Council’s proposals in their Local Plan Review for a ‘growth point’ between Sharpness and Berkeley in a so-called “garden village” of 5,000 houses. The group was formed following locally organised residents’ meetings held in both Sharpness (Dec 2018) and Berkeley (Jan 2019). This website has been set up by local residents to keep the local community informed of local planning and developments.

What is being proposed

A new development of approximately 5000 houses in the Sharpness Berkeley Area.

Who are we?

Following the publication of the Council’s Emerging Strategy in November 2018 a group of concerned residents formed a group to raise awareness within the community of the potential impact of a huge housing development on green fields in the Berkeley and Sharpness area.

Our key aims and objectives are:

  • To be the voice of concerned residents of Berkeley and Sharpness with regards to the Local Plan review.
  • To ensure a fair process is being followed and local people are made aware of new developments in the Local Plan review process.
  • To ensure all the evidence put forward by the council to justify its Local Plan is clear and robust.

What can I do

Your help and support is vital and we would appreciate any support offered by members of the community.
